Fully explore what your PMS and booking engine can do to improve your conversion rate and average order value. A good example is using the proper urgency messages that may (and should) be built into the shopping process. If a room is popular or is in limited inventory, it should be highlighted with a message to drive a potential guest to book right away. Another example would be hoteliers who think of additional services/add-ons as an afterthought.
I’d also love to talk about accessing the “second wallet” and upgrading rooms between booking and stay, but that would be getting beyond my 60-second window.

According to Google’s Holiday Travel Insights: “On average, 45% of travelers said they planned to travel within their own countries in the early fall, and 8% planned to travel internationally. When it comes to holiday travel, 30% to 40% will plan trips a month or more in advance, while the majority will make plans less than a month ahead of time.”
